In some homes in winter when mint is hard to find and rather tasteless, other herbs are added to tea such as absinthe, verbena, marjoram, basil and orange-flower.

green tea is the drink of both rich and poor alike and it is prepared with a smile at any hour of the day or night and on all occasions for friends, relatives or passing strangers. This hot beverage, which is sweetened differently according to taste and region, is part of traditional Moroccan hospitality. The tea table with round feet, made of copper or engraved brass, is always kept ready.

On the big tray are the glasses and teapots and on the small one there are cylindrical boxes, made of the same metal, containing green tea, mint, herbs and lump sugar.
